PMI Short Course PMI is now accepting registrations for its May 2008 Short Course. If you are interested in attending the course, please visit our Short Course page on the website. There, you will be able to view the course schedule, pricing, and the online registration form. We also offer a downloadable .pdf file which you can print out, fill out, and fax or mail back to us.

10th World Filtration Congress - Leipzig, Germany

In April, Dr. Gupta will be attending the 10th Annual World Filtration Congress in Leipzig, Germany. The congress and exhibition will run from April 14th - 17th, and we will be at booth U1 during this time. On April 16th at 1:15pm, we will be presenting our paper "Homogeneity of Commercial Filter Cartridges," which is Session L13 for the day. If you are in the area, please feel free to stop by and visit with Dr. Gupta. He will be more than happy to answer any questions and discuss our machines or the paper with you.

Capillary Flow Porometer

for Cartridge Media

PMI is proud to announce its new Capillary Flow Porometer for Cartridge Media. While similar to our other Capillary Flow Porometers, this new CapFlow has some additional safety components our other machines do not have. These safety features are due to the extremely high pressure used when testing the samples, which, if there were a failure in the sample, could lead to injury.

The first safety feature is the locking mechanism by Idec. This safety lock is software controlled, which means it can only be locked and unlocked by the computer software used in testing the sample. Another key Feature of this safety lock is the fact that it will not unlock until the pressure inside the sample chamber reaches zero.

The next new safety feature of this machine is the 3/8" thick safety glass on the door. This safety glass is thicker than our standard 1/4" glass, and can contain any failures sustained within the sample chamber.

Specifications & Features

The CFPC is rated for 500 psi maximum pressure in the sample chamber, and can test pore sizes ranging from 0.013 – 80 microns (but can be customized for higher). The machine has a Standard Liters Per Minute (SLPM) of 200, and performs the following tests:

Bubble Point (Maximum Through Pore Diameter)
Through Pore Size Distribution
Mean Flow Pore Diameter
Pressure Hold
Gas Permeability

The sample chamber has the ability to test cartridges up to 25cm long, and can have many different sized adapters customized to suit your needs
