Chemical Industry

PMI provides the chemical industry with testing equipment and analytical services for a variety of applications. PMI instruments offer invaluable information about the surface area of chemicals, catalysts, reactants, and other products. Knowing the surface area of a chemical allows you to more accurately characterize its reactive surface and anticipate its actions in various environments.

PMI's BET Sorptometer is the primary instrument used to assess the surface area of catalysts, reaction components, and starting materials of chemicals. For example, the BET Sorptometer can be utilized to characterize the surface area of materials used in separation -- for battery separation, protein separation, or other types. Knowledge of the surface area is again crucial in this application. Surface area can determine the speed of a reaction and if a reaction will occur at all.

Additionally, the BET Liquisorb Sorptometer is ideal for testing the extent to which a catalyst can attract and hold other chemical species. The BET Liquisorb is a direct test that measures the attraction and ability to adsorb the vapor of a particular liquid.
