PMI Unveils new Fuel Cell Porometer

Fuel Cell PorometerThe PMI Fuel Cell Porometer provides fully automated through-pore analysis including pore-throat diameter, pore size distribution, mean flow pore diameter, and liquid & gas permeability. The porometer's versatility allows the user to simulate operating conditions. The instrument has special features to measure the effects of compressive stress on a sample, test temperature, sample orientation, layered structure on pore structure characteristics. User-friendly and nondestructive, the Fuel Cell Porometer is an asset in quality control and R&D environments.

The Fuel Cell Porometer is designed to measure all the relevant pore structure characteristics of fuel cell components. Whether it be the pore distribution of electrodes, a change in pore size caused by humidity, or testing the surface area of through pores for testing reaction rate, the PMI Fuel Cell Porometer is built to meet the manufacturer's needs.

The machine has the following unique measurable characteristics:

  1. Characteristics measured using gas with 0 to 100 % humidity
  2. Test temperatures can be 200°C and in special situations 800°C
  3. Pore size measured in samples under compressive stress of up to 1000 psi
  4. Pore structure of each layer of a multilayer composite
  5. Pore diameters down to about 0.013 µm

New Capillary Condensation Flow Porometer

Capillary Condensation Flow PorometerNew instrument to help pharmaceutical, biotechnological & filtration companies in characterizing porous membranes without the harmful effects of high pressure or extreme temperatures.

The PMI Capillary Condensation Flow Porometer passes vapor through a sample held in the sample chamber. The pressure of the vapor is increased until vapor condenses in some of the pores, thus stopping the flow of the vapor through these pores. Pore size is determined by the pressure at which the vapor condenses into the pores, and pore distribution is determined from the vapor flow rate due to a small imposed pressure gradient.

The PMI Capillary Condensation Flow Porometer has the unique ability to measure gas permeability and flow rate distribution in addition to measuring pore diameter of nanopore samples without using any toxic materials or extreme pressures and temperatures. No other instrument has such capabilities. It is utilized for characterization of porous membranes used in many industries such as: Biotechnology & Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Filtration, Food & Beverage, and Environmental without any fear of harmful effects of high pressures and extreme temperatures on samples. Fragile samples with small pores can be easily evaluated by this technique.

The machine has the following features:

PMI Announces New Compression Liquid Extrusion Porosimeter

Compression LEPThe PMI Compression Liquid Extrusion Porosimeter (LEP) has the unique ability to measure pore volume and pore diameter while keeping the sample under compressive stress. The instrument is employed for characterization of porous materials used in many industries such as biotech, pharmaceutical, food, and environment. It produces no harmful effects on personnel or environment.

Some of the key features of this machine are:

PMI Unveils new Advanced Capillary Flow Porometer

The Capillary Flow Porometers determine pore size, pore distribution, and gas permeability by measuring gas flow rates through the dry and wet sample as functions of differential gas pressure. PMI has developed the Advanced Capillary Flow Porometer using the latest patented technology so that the test duration is considerably reduced with hardly any operator intervention. The results are the most accurate and highly repeatable.

The advanced Capillary Flow Porometer has the following unique features:
