Description

The PMI Integrity Analyzer provides fully automated analysis of filter integrity. The integrity test can also measure bubble point. The integrity test detects small amounts of flow through the sample before the bubble point is reached. The user-friendly Integrity Analyzer features non-destructive testing and can test a wide variety of samples.

Principles of Operation

A fully wetted sample is placed in the sample chamber and the chamber is sealed. Gas is then allowed to flow into the chamber behind the sample, at increasing amounts of pressure. A flow meter is located in front of the sample and is used to detect gas flow (diffusive) through the sample prior to the pore being emptied of gas. Thus, the integrity is determined. When the pressure reaches a point that can overcome the capillary action of the liquid within the pore (largest pore), the bubble point has been found. After determination of the bubble point, the pressure is increased and the flow is measured until all pores are empty, and the sample is considered dry.

Applications

Industries worldwide, ranging from the filtration to the pharmaceutical to the nonwovens and to the battery industries, utilize the PMI Integrity Analyzer for R&D and quality control. Samples tested include filter media, membranes, paper, and battery separators.
